The internet has embraced raccoons as icons of chaotic survival. They’re scrappy, clever, and a little bit weird. They’re doing their best (even though they go through your trash at night). They've just hungry! But there’s something comforting about that. Like having a strange, black, brown, and white fairy godfather who has sharp teeth and claws and goes through your trash. Raccoons get it. It's not just about the chaos; their cuteness is interlaced with everything they do, even when they misbehave. Their little tiny bundles of fluff with oversized eyes and clumsy movements. They tumble, wobble, and cling to each other. They're unpredictable, but soft at the same time. I always call my cat a raccoon. He's striped brown and grey, and his belly is a beautiful brown. He really gives that chaotic raccoon energy. It's not a peaceful, sleepy calm of a real cat, and it's not the wholesome and devoted joy of a dog. Scrolling through raccoon memes is a weird experience in and of itself. I always worry someone will look over my shoulder and comment something strange.
